U.S. Department of Education Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools—
Experiences in Effective Prevention: The National Dissemination Meetings (February & March, 2008)
From year to year a consistently high percentage of the U.S. Department of Education’s Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention Model Programs employ the social norms approach.
In 2008, the Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools (OSDFS) will hold a number of two-day invitational meetings to showcase the successes and lessons learned from past model program grantees featured in the new publication Experiences in Effective Prevention: The U.S. Department of Education’s Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention Models on College Campuses Grants. OSDFS will convene these five National Dissemination Meetings from February through March 2008 at various locations across the country:
- San Francisco International Airport (February 5–6, 2008—San Francisco, CA)
- Dallas-Ft. Worth International Airport (February 14–15, 2008—Dallas, TX)
- Nashville (February 22–23, 2008—Nashville, TN)
- Indianapolis (March 3–4, 2008—Indianapolis, IN)
- Hartford (March 17–18, 2008—Hartford, CT)
The National Dissemination Meetings will provide participants with an opportunity to hear panels of former model program grantees talk about their own experiences of using the core elements described in Experiences in Effective Prevention, and how those elements contributed to the success—and “model” status—of their prevention work.
If you would like to be added to the invitation list for the National Dissemination Meetings, please complete the invitation form on the OSDFS website.
